This turquoise mala below has 3 dividers, each consisting of a single DZI stone placed between lotus seeds. The meaning of the Tibetan word "DZI" translates to "shine, brightness, clearness, splendor". In Chinese, the bead is called "heaven's bead" or "heaven's pearl" (天珠). Tibetans believe dZi beads to possess the power to bring about good influence associated with protection, prosperity, attracting wealth, fostering good health and ward against evil. and LOTUS SEED which has a special quality of being so pristine and beautiful, and having prominently arisen from the murkiness of a swamp. it is believed to lift us from the darkness of our confusion, the brightness of our awakened heart can be born.

turquoise is widely appreciated by Tibetans and all through Tibetan history has been prized, valued and worn as jewellery, not only for preserving the family wealth but also for its application in ritual and medicinal practice. "Gyu" (pronounced "yu") the name for turquoise seems to be indigenous, indicating that knowledge of the mineral came from within and not through outside influences.
